Welcome
Shetland Sheepdog Club of Northern California
("SSCNC")
History
The SSCNC was established in the 1940s and incorporated in December 1956. Many things have changed since the early days, but the one thing that remains constant is our love for this wonderful breed.
The membership is comprised of Sheltie fanciers in Northern California, extending from Fresno to the Oregon border and from the California coast to the Sierras.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to encourage members and breeders to accept and promote the standard of the Shetland Sheepdog as approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA) as the only standard of excellence by which Shelties will be judged, and to educate the public about our breed.
Our Goals
- Host competitions that showcase the Sheltie’s beauty and versatility at Specialty shows, including conformation, obedience, and rally events. We also host agility trials, herding trials, fun days, and educational seminars.
- Encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and performance events.
- Promote the ethical breeding of better dogs.
- Educate the membership on the breed standard.
- Educate the public on the desired qualities and characteristics of the Shetland Sheepdog.
